Traditional Metal Braces
Traditional braces consist of standard metal brackets. They are the most common type of braces. Metal braces require periodic tightening so steady pressure can gradually straighten your teeth and align your jaw.
With metal braces, you also have the option of adding colored elastic bands to make your braces vibrant, colorful and uniquely yours!
Ceramic braces are the same size and shape as metal braces, except that they have tooth-colored or clear brackets that blend in to teeth. Some even use tooth-colored wires to be even less noticeable.
Lingual braces are the same as traditional metal braces, except that the brackets and wires are placed on the inside of teeth. While a benefit is that they are invisible from outside, lingual braces can be difficult to clean; more expensive; and not appropriate for all cases.
Invisalign consists of a series of 18 to 30 custom-made, mouth guard-like clear plastic aligners. The aligners are removable and are replaced every 2 weeks.
