Cosmetic Dentistry at Brookline Dental Specialists: Veneers and Botox Cosmetic

The cosmetic dentistry services offered at Brookline Dental Specialists can transform your smile and improve your quality of life. Cosmetic treatments, like veneers to enhance the appearance of your smile and Botox cosmetic to manage pain from TMJ, or reduce facial lining are effective cosmetic treatments that we offer right in our Brookline office!

Veneers

Veneers are just one of the cosmetic dental treatments that can improve the aesthetic appearance of your smile. Our porcelain veneers enhance the look of your smile by replacing damaged teeth, closing unwanted gaps between teeth, or altering the shape or color of your
teeth.

Veneer treatment is a relatively simple procedure. We work with you to create a custom veneer treatment plan that addresses your individual smile goals. Using digital scanning technology, we can show you what to expect from the finished results ahead of the actual procedure!

Veneer treatment takes two office visits to achieve stunning results. At your first appointment, our dentist will trim a tiny amount of enamel off your teeth, creating the appropriate surface and space for optimal for veneer placement.

We then take impressions of your teeth that are sent to a professional lab to create veneers that fit perfectly and precisely match the shade of your surrounding teeth. Temporary veneers are placed on the teeth until your permanent veneers are ready.

Once your custom veneers have been created, they are permanently placed at a second appointment. Before permanently placing your veneers, we carefully examine the exact placement of the veneers to ensure a perfect fit. The final step is the bonding of the veneers to result in your new and improved smile. With proper care and regularly scheduled dental cleanings, our veneers can give you a beautiful smile for many years.

Botox Cosmetic

If you suffer from TMJ dysfunction, or pain in your jaw and neck from clenching or grinding your teeth, Botox Cosmetic can help alleviate that pain. Botox Cosmetic injections target and relax the specific muscles in your face, neck and shoulders that are causing your discomfort.

Our AAFE-certified dentist, Dr. Katrina Torres, is uniquely qualified to address these conditions. As part of her dental training, she has spent years studying facial anatomy and injecting anesthetics into maxillofacial structures, allowing her to exactly target the sources of pain or discomfort, increasing the effectiveness of Botox Cosmetic treatments.

This intensive training also allows Dr. Torres to offer superior Botox Cosmetic treatments for the reduction of facial lining and wrinkling. This treatment is done right in our office by Dr. Torres, who can skillfully target the specific muscles that cause lining as you age.

In addition to veneers and Botox Cosmetic treatments, Brookline Dental Specialists has other cosmetic treatments available to help you achieve the beautiful smile you deserve! From same-day whitening to Invisalign aligners, we encourage you to book a smile consultation to learn more about how BDS can transform your smile!

In fact, as dentists spend years studying facial anatomy, they have extensive hands-on experience in targeting the facial muscles they know so well.

Many of our patients even find that Botox injections given by our practitioners are quicker, and cause less pain, than those given by other health care professionals! For the month of February, Brookline Dental Specialists is offering patients 20% off Botox Cosmetic treatments. Improving the Look and the Health of Your Smile

At Brookline Dental Specialists, the health of your teeth and smile is our number one priority, but we also know that the look and feel of your smile can be just as important. A great-looking smile boosts confidence and self-esteem and often leads to a renewed commitment to overall dental health. In addition, if you are experiencing TMJ, migraine, and sleep disruptions we are here to help you find a treatment that can alleviate your pain and lead to better overall health. At BDS, we are pleased to be able to offer cosmetic treatments that can help you feel and look your best!

Invisalign

As we age, our teeth can shift, resulting in less-than-perfectly straight smiles. Many of our patients also had orthodontic treatment when they were young and failed to maintain results with proper use of retainers. Invisalign is a wire and metal bracket-free alternative to traditional braces. Invisalign therapy consists of custom-molded, durable plastic aligners that you replace every two weeks to slowly and effectively straighten your teeth. Before starting treatment, our orthodontic specialist Dr. Mariam Ghavamian will evaluate and then create a customized treatment plan, complete with 3D imaging of the expected results. Because you can remove the Invisalign aligners, to eat and clean your teeth (or take an in-progress selfie!), Invisalign offers all of the straightening benefits of traditional braces with virtually no restrictions.

Veneers

Whether you are looking for a full smile makeover, or if you have other dental concerns including gaps, damaged or crooked teeth, BDS offers porcelain veneers that are a permanent solution for a beautiful, confident smile. Our veneers are custom-designed and expertly bonded to the front of existing teeth. Veneer treatment, which involves no oral anesthesia and is virtually pain-free, takes two office visits, but the additional time is well-worth the brilliant, long-lasting results. On average, with proper care and regular dental cleanings, veneers can last 10 years or more and are easily replaceable. An added benefit to veneers is that they are as strong, or even stronger than your natural teeth.

Botox Therapy

Do you suffer from TMJ dysfunction or pain from clenching or grinding your teeth? Pain from the temporomandibular joint can cause headaches, facial tension, and the inability to open and close your mouth comfortably. Botox cosmetic can help alleviate pain by relaxing the facial muscles. Here in our office AAFE-certified Dr. Katarina Torres can customize Botox treatments for these conditions. A dentist is the ideal provider of Botox therapies as they spend years studying facial anatomy as part of their dental training and have extensive experience injecting anesthetics in many of the same maxillofacial areas that are treated with Botox.

Zoom! Teeth Whitening

There are many causes for tooth discoloration, some of which are preventable, like smoking and drinking coffee and red wine; some of which are not, like aging and genetics. Whatever the reason for tooth discoloration, if you are unhappy with the color of your teeth, BDS offers Zoom! Teeth Whitening. Zoom! treatment is time-efficient, requiring only one office visit for the treatment itself. During treatment, a hydrogen-peroxide gel is applied to teeth and then the Zoom! laser stimulates the gel for three 15-minute sessions. Teeth can become up to eight shades lighter in a single appointment. You also receive a take-home touch-up kit to help the effects of your whitening treatment last longer.

If you are looking to improve the appearance of your smile, realign your teeth and your bite, or alleviate nagging jaw or facial pain, Brookline Dental Specialists has a solution that could be right for you. Contact our office today to set up a consultation!

Most people who are considering medical cosmetic treatments such as Botox visit a medi-spa or seek out a professional in the cosmetic field to perform such procedures, but what about at your dentist’s office? It may seem unconventional at first, but in fact, your dentist may be just as qualified, if not more, to administer Botox.

Man receiving Botox to improve smileMany states recognize this and have approved dental offices providing Botox services for their patients.  A dental practitioner is actually the ideal doctor to help you use Botox to improve the function and the look of your smile. Dentists go through years of education and training to receive their Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD), or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) credentials. Some registered nurses and physicians’ assistants who are licensed to administer Botox have only taken a weekend long course to be qualified to perform the procedure! When compared to a dentist who has spent years studying the maxillofacial area, or the jaws and the face, this poses significantly more risks to the safety of the procedure.

Dental offices must adhere to the highest level of safety standards. Managing chemicals properly, single use tools, and an autoclave which is used to sterilize all the tools and equipment used in our office. We follow strict protocols to make sure our facility and equipment are sterile and safe. Every member of our clinical team must be up to date, trained, and licensed to work in our practice. This includes training in the most comprehensive sterilization methods. Spas, beauty parlors, and other venues that offer Botox treatments aren’t held to the same standards. This could expose you to risks when seeking Botox with this type of provider–tools that could be exposed to harmful bacteria and practitioners who aren’t as educated as dental professionals in proper sanitation practices. This is yet another reason why a dental office is your best bet if you are seeking the safest possible Botox experience.

woman with TMJ needs a Botox treatmentIn addition to the cosmetic applications, Botox can be used in some cases to provide therapeutic dental treatment for migraines and bruxism. Bruxism, or the subconscious clenching and grinding of teeth in either waking life or sleep, has shown to be improved by Botox therapies. Temperomandibular joint disorders–or TMJ disorders–also show improvement using Botox. The temperomandibular joint, or simply your jaw joint functions like a hinge: under certain stress or tension, the jaw can lock up, “click” on opening and closing, or shift to one side, causing complications with bite and chew. Spasms of the jaw, pathologic clenching of the jaw, a gummy smile, and other disorders can be treated by a dentist using Botox.

Dr. Amirali Fattahi, D.M.D. is now offering cosmetic Botox treatment in the comfort and convenience of our office right here in Brookline. Botox has been proven time and time again as a medical and cosmetic treatment for a wide variety of maxillofacial concerns. If you’d like more information about all the cosmetic and esthetic treatments available in our office please give us a call to schedule a consultation, and as always, we welcome new patients!
