Invisalign

As we age, our teeth can shift, resulting in less-than-perfectly straight smiles. Many of our patients also had orthodontic treatment when they were young and failed to maintain results with proper use of retainers. Invisalign is a wire and metal bracket-free alternative to traditional braces. Invisalign therapy consists of custom-molded, durable plastic aligners that you replace every two weeks to slowly and effectively straighten your teeth. Before starting treatment, our orthodontic specialist Dr. Mariam Ghavamian will evaluate and then create a customized treatment plan, complete with 3D imaging of the expected results. Because you can remove the Invisalign aligners, to eat and clean your teeth (or take an in-progress selfie!), Invisalign offers all of the straightening benefits of traditional braces with virtually no restrictions.

Veneers

Zoom! Teeth Whitening

Whatever the reason for tooth discoloration, if you are unhappy with the color of your teeth, BDS offers Zoom! Teeth Whitening. Zoom! treatment is time-efficient, requiring only one office visit for the treatment itself. During treatment, a hydrogen-peroxide gel is applied to teeth and then the Zoom! laser stimulates the gel for three 15-minute sessions. Teeth can become up to eight shades lighter in a single appointment. You also receive a take-home touch-up kit to help the effects of your whitening treatment last longer.

Protecting the results of your orthodontic treatment, and your beautiful new smile will require retainers to maintain the position of your teeth and the alignment of your bite. Our orthodontic patients at Brookline Dental Specialists are loving the new Vivera retainer option
available in our practice. Our orthodontic specialist, Dr. Mariam Ghavamian, and her team of highly trained assistants use a digital workflow to design your orthodontic treatment plan. The software allows us to design customized clear aligners and retainers just for you, and you can even view your ongoing progress as well as the final results before you even start.

Your Vivera retainers come as a set of custom clear trays that are very similar to the Invisalign trays you used to realign your teeth. Your retainers need to be strong enough to maintain the newly created tooth positions. It is important to follow the instructions of the orthodontic team at the office to protect the results of your treatment. Regularly scheduled appointments with your hygienist for cleanings and exams including a check in with our orthodontic team will optimize your overall oral health as well.

For your convenience, your retainers come in a set of four upper and lower. If you only need lower retainers, your set of four will be all lowers. If you lose or break one, simply open the next package. With four sets of Vivera, most patients get a minimum of 4-5 years of wear from their retainers!

Because Vivera retainers are made with the same state-of-the-art technology as Invisalign aligners using 3-D digital imaging and fabrication technology we can achieve an extremely precise fit. This creates a strong retainer with a smooth finish, a firm grip, and a really comfortable fit. Vivera retainers are perfect for patients who have completed their Invisalign treatment because they fit, function, and can be cared for exactly like the Invisalign aligners that you are used to.

Vivera retainers can be an excellent option for patients finishing treatment with traditional braces too! Our digital iTero scanner can be used to scan your teeth while your braces are still in place. Your customized Vivera retainers can be created and ready for you in the office the day your braces come off.

The digital workflow that we are able to use with the Invisalign system is convenient and comfortable for patients who choose to use clear aligners for their orthodontic treatment and then choose Vivera retainers. In a non-digital, orthodontic treatment protocol replacing a broken or lost traditional retainer would require a new impression of your teeth and a subsequent stone model to capture the positioning of your teeth to use for the analog fabrication of a traditional retainer in the lab. It also means time out of your retainer, appointments scheduled at the office, and then waiting for the new retainer to be made. There will be another appointment to pick up the replacement and make sure it fits properly.

Vivera retainers are clear, effective, and comfortable to wear. That means you can wear them with confidence, no one will know you are wearing a retainer but you. We have expanded the range of care and services we offer and have welcomed hundreds of new patients into our Brookline dental family in 2018.

Our office got a make-over this year too. To complement the new office location on Longwood Ave in Coolidge Corner we designed a new look and feel for our website, logo and brand. It was exciting for all of us to really think about how we could communicate the quality and values we share as a practice and deliver to our patients. Our new logo, the paisley leaf a global symbol of long life and abundance, along with the tagline “Complete & Convenient Care,” embody our values. It is our commitment to provide our patients and community complete dental care, in one convenient location, for a long life of smiles and abundant health!
